Description

The last full image taken with the 2x Powermate, saved the worst for last 😊😊. I still have 3 more images just in Lum, did not have the chance to get the remaining channels. Maybe next year then.

M90 has a wonderful ring around the center, and there are also some nice details to see around the core.
Love the "companion" IC 3583, those irregulars always look very cool!

One thing that I read on several pages puzzles me though: they say that IC 3583 interacts with M90. But all distance measurements that I could find indicated that IC 3583 is ~ 30 MLYs away, while M90 is ~ 60 MLYs. I would be more than surprised if those 2 do interact at those distances.

All in all, the 2x Powermate excursion was very interesting and produced some decent images.

When I sifted through the remaining images I actually found some that I accidentally took with bin 1x1. Did not have any flats for them, but I could see that this is definitely the way to go the next time I get the 2x Powermate out. I might post the comparison image here as an additional version (not showing M90 though 😉) just to illustrate.

Title: Background darkening

Description: As Ruediger mentioned, the background is quite bright in the original version. I did reduce it, but for some reason this time I was not as fond about it. I know, most like it darker, more realistic from a Bortle 1,2 area. Maybe one can consider my original image a tribute to Bortle 6/7 😊.

Title: Bin 1x1 vs. Bin 2x2 comparison with the 2x Powermate setup

Description: This is not an image of M90, rather an image of NGC 3227 that I could not complete in time. I also accidentally used bin 1x1 for a few images, no flats or correct darks, hence a very "dirty" image. I StarAligned the 1x1 to the 2x2 image and just used the PI atomic stretch. I think one can clearly see that the stars in the bin 1x1 version are looking much better.
